On April 30, Levi Prombaum, Curatorial Assistant, Collections, at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum led a before-hours tour of the exhibition Implicit Tensions: Mapplethorpe Now for V&AAF supporters. The group was treated to an informative look at highlights from the Guggenheim’s extensive Mapplethorpe collection with Mr. Prombaum providing interesting details on Mapplethorpe’s art techniques and subject matter.

One of the most critically acclaimed and controversial American artists of the late 20th century, Robert Mapplethorpe (1946-1989) is renowned for his provocative imagery.

Implicit Tensions: Mapplethorpe Now ran at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum from 24 July to January 5, 2020.
