On Wednesday, February 19th 2020, Dr Page Knox led a group of V&AAF supporters on a before opening hours tour of In Pursuit of Fashion, The Sandy Schreier Collection at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The exhibition featured a selection of promised gifts from Sandy Schreier, a pioneering collector, who over the course of more than half a century assembled one of the finest private fashion collections in the United States.
The exhibition explored how Schreier accumulated a trove of twentieth-century French and American couture and ready-to-wear clothing, not as a wardrobe, but in appreciation of this form of creative expression. Dr Knox gave an informative talk on the dresses and accessories on display and delighted the group with interesting and amusing background stories on some of the items.
