Visit to the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum
In October 2015 the V&AAF group enjoyed an afterhours tour of the newly renovated Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum and a visit to its temporary exhibition Provocations: The Architecture and Design of Heatherwick Studio.
Caroline Baumann, Director of the Cooper Hewitt, welcomed the group and provided some information on the museum’s history and its recent renovations before handing over to Cara McCarty, Director of Curatorial at the Museum.
Cara showed the group some highlights of the Cooper Hewitt’s permanent collection before leading a fascinating tour of the Heatherwick exhibition – an engaging display of some of the designers most innovative and imaginative works of art.
